Heard the buzz about Wild Roses but didn't catch the first couple of episodes?

Wondering how a writer makes a living in the Canadian Television industry?

There are plenty of resources available online to help you out.

If you want to watch full episodes of CBC shows, visit CBC's site, click on the show you're interested in, then look for the link that says "Full Episodes." For example, the latest episode of Little Mosque.

Canadian programmes available include Being Erica, Heartland, Wild Roses, The Border, Sophie and their non-fiction shows including clips from Mercer and The Hour.

At CTV, you can watch Flashpoint, Degrassi: TNG, Robson Arms, the last two seasons of Corner Gas, and even Whistler.

Showcase offers episodes of Rent-a-Goalie, Billable Hours and Trailer Park Boys.

At Global episodes of The Guard and 'da Kink in My Hair are available.

If you've had enough drama, you can catch some of Canada's terrific kid's shows at YTV and Teletoon.

For the inside scoop about what's happening in the Canadian television world, several bloggers share thoughts and news on a daily basis. Here are a selection of who's talking most often about specifically Canadian television:

TV, eh? - a very valuable resource run by Diane Kristine Wild, providing links to and commentary on all the latest news from the Canadian television industry. Diane also interviews people working in the industry, sometimes as a podcast. She provides an amazing list of links to current and recent shows.

At The Legion of Decency, Jim Henshaw offers up analysis of trends in the Canadian industry, delving in-depth into broadcaster decisions, government policy, and funding issues.

HeyWriterBoy - Denis McGrath is a board member with the Writers Guild of Canada and has written on several Canadian shows in the last several years including The Border. His blog offers his behind-the-scenes take on the state of the Canadian television industry and interviews with showrunners and writers.

TV Feeds my Family - Bill Brioux has been a television writer for the Toronto Sun and Canadian TV Guide. His weekly column "Brioux on the Box" appears in papers nationwide. His blog covers Canadian and American television, and the challenges to people working in both. He posts audio links to his weekly radio show on CHML.

Complications Ensue - Alex Epstein writes for both television and film. His blog offers advice to new writers, answering questions on pitching, writing specs, etc. He also provides updates on his own projects, offering a view on a working writer's life.

Perhaps not surprisingly, these blogs are written by writers. If you know of any blogs from other roles in the industry, please tell us about them!

These blogs all provide their own "blog roll" of who they're reading from the industry, including South of the Border. You might want to set up an RSS reader like Google Reader or FeedDemon/NetNewsWire to easily keep track of the most recent posts. If you do, you can subscribe to all NSI Industry posts tagged television.
