Video: New models of film marketing, finance and distribution in the digital era (1)

About this video

In March 2010 the National Screen Institute invited three experts from the international film community to present a panel discussion on new models of film marketing, distribution and financing for the digital era.

In part one of video highlights from the panel, author and filmmaker Jon Reiss, independent marketing expert Sheri Candler, and founder of the Biracy Project (a crowdfunded filmmaking website) David Geertz talked about new ways to connect an audience to your film.

Parts two and three will appear on our website in the coming weeks.

  • Marketing is not an after thought - it needs part of the production process. Amen!

Before we wrote a single line of code at Tactica for One Ocean Interactive (www.oneoceanonline.org) we created a development blog, YouTube channel and Twitter account to share our content as it was being created. It helped us build some anticipation and credibility with influencers we approached to spread the word about the project. It gave them something to share and talk about with their audience.

If we had the opportunity to do it all over again we would create a marketing position from the start to focus on social media interactions. We thought we could manage this ourselves but without someone dedicated to finding and participating in conversations relevant to our themes it just doesn't get done effectively.

Just a moment please...
