John Candy - He was many characters to many people: Johnny LaRue, Doctor Tongue and Yosh Shmenge on SCTV, Del Griffith in Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Buck Russell in Uncle Buck, Gus Polinski – Polka King of the Midwest in Home Alone, Barf in Spaceballs, Sheriff Bud Boomer in Canadian Bacon, Irv Blitzer in Cool Runnings, and so many more personas, plus real-life role as co-owner of the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts.

He’s an Emmy and Gemini winner and in 1992 received the Sir Peter Ustinov Award at the Banff World Television Festival.

In part two of this 1989 CityLights interview John Candy shares his thoughts about Hollywood projects, his Canadian colleagues living in Toronto versus California, and stories about his friend and SCTV co-star Eugene Levy.

Frequent statements made in by actors, directors, producers and writers during the thousands of interviews conducted by celebrated Canadian interview icon Brian Linehan. His incomparable research, love of entertainment and keen interest in the artists and their stories were appreciated by subjects and audiences alike.

Sadly Brian passed away in 2004.

Brian Linehan has left his entire estate to The Brian Linehan Charitable Foundation to support the creation of a Canadian star system through financial support of advanced training programs, such as NSI, and an aggressive promotion of talent.
