News release: September 14, 2009

Congratulations to Kryshan Randel, from Vancouver, BC, the latest winner of the A&E Short Filmmaker Award which recognizes outstanding works in the NSI Online Short Film Festival.

Kryshan won with his film Glimpse. The film follows a woman recovering from a break up who discovers she has the power to see into her future relationships. Randel takes you on a journey of the chaos that ensues when her close friend takes her out for a night on the town.

The A&E Short Filmmakers Award is a juried award which provides one filmmaker with a cash prize of $2,500 and is presented four times a year. Karen Swerdfeger, Andy Marshall and Karen Walton made up the current jury and were unanimous in their decision.
"Glimpse’s universal story of break-up with an almost science fiction twist permitted the short drama, great comedy and a "Will She Find ‘The One?’" hook. With strong performances, great directing, interesting visual devices and a complete story, Glimpse rose to number one for us quite quickly and easily," said the jury.
Kryshan Randel has directed over fifty short films, including the Kickstart-winning Glimpse which premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival. Other award winning films by Randel include The Bully Solution, The Secret Life of Cassandra Brown, and Cowboy. He is also the creator and producer of the successful Vancouver-based fast film events, The 24 Hour Film Contest and The Great Canadian Commercial Contest; and Associate Producer of the city's premier short film-related event Crazy8s.
