Director Daniel I. Schachter says:
"After I made this film, several people said to me “Wow, you really understand women!”
Yeah, right.
I’d like to come clean. I don’t know anything about “women”. I don’t know anything about anything. My friends can attest to that.
There is a myth about film directors, one that directors themselves like to perpetuate, that they are in control, that they are all-knowing, at least as far as the world of their film is concerned. But one of the wisest directors said that 90% of the job is choosing actors and he didn’t have anything to do with the best moments in any of his films.
I think that the best thing about Three Mothers are the actresses. And I would like to thank them– Linda Smith, Miriam Samuels, and Jenna Wright – for making me look like a smart director that understands women."
