Where were you on June 25, 1999?

Ah, I remember that day well. I was sad. I wasn’t myself. You could say I was in another world. But not for long.

Yes, sadly on Friday June 25, 1999 the beloved soap Another World left the airwaves.

I had taped the last three episodes so three of my friends and I could watch them together and have a meaningful memorial.

There was pizza to honour Paulina and Joe’s restaurant, Carlino’s, cheese curls for Vicky’s favourite snack, wine to toast our friends.

I still have those episodes on tape (and a back up one of course – bless the VHS!) to relive from time to time – no one has a bigger collection of soap opera weddings, funerals and break ups than me – too bad I don’t label my tapes properly.

But I digress…

This weekend I read in the newspaper that YouTube would be showing full episodes of programs.

So I held my breath. Could it be? Will this work?

As you know many videos are not viewable in Canada. I checked and while we can’t access classic Beverly Hills 90210, Starsky and Hutch, He-Man and Masters of the Universe, Bewitched, The Lone Ranger and Fantasy Island, you can watch Bonanza, The Lucy Show, Nova, Paranormal TV, I Want to be a Hilton, Ready Steady CookFear Factor Australia, and Another World.

YouTube thank you!
