Personal statement
James Vorstenbosch says:
"At its heart, Straight and Narrow is about the absurdity of discrimination in any form, though its story uses prejudices against sexual orientation to make the point. Shot on Super 16mm film and featuring an open minded and energetic cast Straight and Narrow is an all-Canadian production with a talented up-and-coming crew.
This ten-minute short is the first manifestation of a concept that began story development over six years ago and still promises more in the future. Straight and Narrow is a new take on the plight of Romeo and Juliet set in present day but in a world where heterosexuals face the persecution and marginalization still faced by homosexuals in our own world.
It is our hope that through this juxtaposition the audience may take pause to reflect on their own views after seeing that it’s not so funny when the tables are turned."

James Vorstenbosch
James premiered his first short film, To Whom It May Concern, at the Niagara Artists Centre before graduating high school. His post-secondary education began in the film studies program at Brock University. However, he truly thrived throughout his three years at Sheridan Institute’s Media Arts program where he focused on directing and writing.
Graduating at the top of his class, Vorstenbosch is currently lending his talents to the commercial industry at The Corner Store Films in Toronto. He is also developing his own production company Ario Films as well as future short and feature projects.
