The National Screen Institute - Canada (NSI) announces the teams selected to the 2012
NSI Drama Prize program.
Congratulations to:
- The Goodbye Girl – producer Michelle Kim and writer/director Amber Ripley (Surrey and Vancouver, BC)
- Floodplain – writer/producer Daniel Hogg and director Jeremy Lutter (Victoria and Vancouver, BC)
- Promise – producer Cory Quinn, writer Holly Marchuk and writer/director Dion Telesky (Winnipeg and Lorette, MB)
- With Truelove Showers – producer Georgina López, writer Jeremy Beal and director James Musselman (Toronto, ON)
NSI Drama Prize has also added new faculty members for 2012 – acclaimed filmmaker
Elise Swerhone is program manager and award-winning writer/director
Sean Garrity is program advisor and director facilitator. They join returning faculty Shereen Jerrett (writer facilitator) and Jeff Peeler (producer facilitator).
Elise and Sean oversee this ambitious training program which provides emerging filmmakers with $10,000 cash and up to $30,000 in services toward the development and production of a short film (up to 10 minutes).
“I went through an NSI training program with my first feature
Inertia, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to give back to the film community through my new role at NSI,” said Sean Garrity.
Teams receive customized training delivered in Winnipeg by industry experts in writing, directing and producing. Guidance and mentorship continues throughout the various stages of filmmaking over the next year in the teams’ home communities. Previous team mentors include

David Miller and
Victoria Hirst.
