NSI alumna Lisa Jackson celebrates US premiere at SXSW

Savage, a film by NSI Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program graduate Lisa Jackson screens at South by Southwest (SXSW) March 12-20 in the Narrative Shorts category.

The winner of the grand jury award in that category is eligible for a 2011 Academy Award® nomination for "Best Narrative Short."

Savage is a residential school musical, commissioned through the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival and had its European premiere at the Berlinale, Forum Expanded.

Lisa's first short film Suckfish screened at over 60 festivals and aired in Canada on CBC, APTN, and Knowledge Network. Her award-winning 2007 documentary Reservation Soldiers premiered on CTV's "W5 Presents'.

Her recent projects include the short animation The Visit, and Pushing the Line: Art Without Reservations, an arts documentary for Bravo! Channel.
