Personal statement
Mina Vladimir says:
"It is often said that city life is an atomic lifestyle: the busy, fast paced and stressful lifestyle is often blamed for the sense of alienation, isolation and disembodiment present in the city dwellers’ psyches.
Living amongst hundreds of thousands, if not millions of neighbors, the city dwellers often wonder if their existence is truly that special. Are they really unique individuals? Or are they simply dots within a large mass that we call ‘the city’?
Facing the threat of disappearing within that mass, the city dweller will often choose introversion to reassert their personal identity, and in the process, become disembodied.
Nightfall presents the other side to that argument: healing the disembodiment through the power and beauty of dance. Dance is one of the rawest forms of human expression, because the medium is the human body.
It is the story of using our most personal medium of expression to revolt against the city. If we don’t even belong to our body, what else can we belong to?"
