Background
The National Screen Institute is the industry leader in designing and delivering film and
television training programs for the Aboriginal community and for many
years has wanted to establish an Aboriginal training centre in Winnipeg.
In 2007 space was secured next door to the NSI head office and the first round of renovations was completed.
Thanks to a 2008 grant from The Winnipeg Foundation, NSI further
transformed its functional training space with high quality audio
visual equipment, multi-configuration furniture and a kitchenette.
It has since become the training site for two of our Aboriginal training programs:
NSI New Voices and
NSI Storytellers, plus
NSI Drama Prize and other
NSI training programs, as well as arts groups in Winnipeg.
NSI is proud to open the doors to its Aboriginal Training Centre to Winnipeg’s arts community.
