Film Training Manitoba is holding a screenwriting competition for Manitoba screenwriters.
Winners will be selected for two, one-on-one teleconference, 90-minute script development sessions with veteran story editor Pilar Alessandra (who will also be in Winnipeg for a special two day rewrite intensive workshop presented by the National Screen Institute and Film Training Manitoba.)
Film Training Manitoba will select four scripts and the writing sessions will take place in September/October.
Their aim for this competition is to train emerging and advanced screenwriters to develop market ready film and/or television projects.
Admission to this program is highly competitive and scripts of all genres will be accepted for the application process: web series, mini series, feature films, television series etc.
About Pilar Alessandra
Pilar is the director of the popular writing program "On The Page." A sought after
teacher and lecturer, she’s traveled the world teaching screenwriting and is in high demand at major writing conferences and film festivals. As a consultant, she’s helped thousands of writers create, refine and sell their screenplays. Her students and clients have sold to Disney, DreamWorks, Warner Brothers and Sony.
Deadline
Applications must be received by August 14, 2009 by noon.
Fees
Registration for the competition is $200. A non-refundable application fee of $25 must be enclosed with an application for each title. Once the jury selects the four participants, the remainder of the registration fee ($175) will be due. Market value for the sessions is $650.
Qualifications
This competition is only open to residents of Manitoba. Upon jury selection of the final four, it's compulsory for the participants to complete two forms required by the province of Manitoba.
