Personal statement

Director Mark Hemming says:

"I have been traveling throughout Japan for the last 10 years, and it the country has become a second home to me. My wife and I also lived there for a year, in the mountains of Nagano prefecture.

My work in Japan is primarily still photography, however this past trip I thought I would test out some new video technology; HD filming on DSLR cameras! This advancement is relatively new, so I thought I would give it a go and film my travels through Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nagano.

My only real goal was to test out the camera, as I was doubtful that I could actually produce a decent short film. When I returned from my trip I assembled the footage in Avid and it turned out to be quite interesting! My two greatest film influences are Baraka and Heima by Sigur Ros, and that will be more than evident when viewing this short film.

I hope you enjoy it!"
