If you find yourself out and about in downtown Winnipeg on Sunday, January 31, consider checking out the MANITOBA FILM & MUSIC showcase event which runs 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This free event at the Centennial Concert Hall has oodles going on.

Hear from some cool local music folks and get up close and personal with director (and NSI Features First alumnus) Gary Yates (High Life, Seven Times Lucky) in a special interview.

There will be film screenings including the animated short Runaway (directed by Cordell Barker), and spotlights on Farpoint Films, Frantic Films, and us, the National Screen Institute.

Fabulous filmmaker/aerial artist Talia Pura (whose short film Strawberry Confessions is showing in our NSI Online Short Film Festival) will give a live aerial silks performance. Another of her shorts - Aerial Artistry - has been chosen to represent Manitoba in the upcoming 2010 Olympics in Vancouver this February.
