Filmmakers bursary
Industry Centre > Training programs > NSI Features First > Filmmakers bursary
When Jim Murphy passed away in April 2007 the National Screen Institute lost a valued team member and friend, and the Canadian film industry lost one if its strongest advocates and supporters.
In honour of Jim, NSI launched the Jim Murphy Filmmakers Bursary, which will be awarded annually to an NSI Features First team.
In keeping with Jim’s incomparable film distribution, marketing and promotion contributions, the annual $2,500 award will be presented to a team going through the NSI Features First program that proposes an inventive and creatively integrated marketing plan with their project application.
Award recipients
The
first team to receive the Jim Murphy Filmmakers bursary is writer/director Shawn Linden and producer Megan Heke of Winnipeg with their project
Hunter Hunter.
The 2010 bursary was awarded to writer/director
Geoff Redknap and producer Katie Weekley of Vancouver, and their project
Heaven’s Door.
In 2011
Wisteria - from writer/director
A.J. Bond of Toronto and producer Amy Belling of Vancouver - won the award.
