Facts about the National Screen Institute - Canada (NSI)
About NSI > Facts about the National Screen Institute - Canada (NSI)
- National training school based in Winnipeg.
- We're a film, television and digital media training school.
- We don't have a single location or campus - we're known as a school without walls.
NSI training programs
- NSI’s training philosophy is that the best way to learn is by
doing. NSI programs are taught by experts in film, television and
digital media who deliver workshops and seminars and mentor
participants. NSI program curricula are intense, focused and effective.
- For
most programs, participants come together for short, concentrated “boot
camps” connecting with Canada’s experts in production, financing,
pitching, marketing, broadcasting, distribution, legal, copyright,
script development and much more.
- After boot camp,
participants go home and are paired with local mentors. They prepare
their projects for international markets, work with a script
consultant, prepare pitches or embark on program-based internships.
This allows participants to keep their day jobs while building their
dream careers. It also helps NSI connect the regional film and
television communities across Canada.
- Constant interaction with the industry and feedback from participants keep the programs in tune with current trends.
- NSI Features First

professional development for established producers with television
