About Alex Epstein
A native New Yorker and a new Canadian, Alex Epstein is a veteran writer for movies and television, and an emerging director.
His first professional short, Twelve Ways to say I’m Sorry, aired on Bravo!, the Sundance Channel, Movie Central and Air Canada, and screened at Just for Laughs and the Whistler Film Festival. His second, You are so Undead, played at over twenty fantastic film festivals including Fantasia, Sitges, Screamfest, RioFan, Court Métrange, Mecal, and A Night of Horror. It opened Dead by Dawn, and has over 200,000 hits on YouTube and climbing.
His Grilled Cheese Trilogy premièred at the Rendezvous du Cinéma Québecois in February 2013. In 2013, he shot Role Play, starring Juliette Gosselin, and Winter Garden, starring Enrico Colantoni.
Alex was nominated for a Jutra and won a Canadian Comedy Award for co-writing the hit buddy cop comedy Bon Cop/Bad Cop. The film won a Genie for best picture and broke the Canadian box office record for a Canadian movie. He co-created the comic drama tv series Naked Josh for Showcase and Oxygen; it ran three seasons and was nominated for a Gemini. He was nominated for two WGC Awards for his work on the show. He was head writer on Charlie Jade and Executive Story Editor for Galidor.
He is also the narrative director and voice director for the upcoming video game Contrast. He lives in Montreal’s Old Port, with his wife, the author and screenwriter Lisa Hunter, and their daughter Jesse.
