Above: still from Teabagged
Two new films in the NSI Online Short Film Festival this week.
I’m not really into vampire stuff. I wasn’t interested in Twilight or Buffy. But I totally love Alex Epstein’s comedy You Are So Undead.
Teenager Mary Margaret no longer sees her reflection in the mirror because she let her vampire boyfriend Drew go ‘all the way’ and now she’s undead. Her mom is so going to ground her.
Her best friend Jo is shocked and a little envious. But Drew is not the devoted boyfriend Mary Margaret thought he was and Jo’s got a secret of her own.
Alex Epstein says, “My stepson was complaining that his girlfriend was obsessed with Twilight. She had posters of Robert Pattinson all over her room and he felt dissed.
We’re very proud of You Are So Undead. We cast Meaghan Rath before she became the ghost in Being Human.”
As for our second film this week Teabagged, directed by Ryan LaVia, let’s just say that the filmmakers have been very careful with their use of props.
Teabagged is a short comedy about why a roommate should always sleep with his mouth closed.
If you have no idea what teabagging is, please read definition (1) on the Urban Dictionary website.
Ryan LaVia says, “Teabagged was inspired by watching some five second films online which made me want to attempt something extremely short and witty.
I knew right away that I wanted my film to have a title that the audience would instantly relate to and, once the title was conceived, the rest of the story came together quite quickly.”
