Lie Down and Die

Seth’s family is cursed. Throughout the years its members have suffered a bizarre series of accidents, abductions and murders. Living with the paralyzing fear that he is next, and unsure if his genealogy has suffered bad luck or been dealt a tragic fate, Seth re-imagines past tragedies in an attempt to find peace.

Director’s statement

Kyle Sanderson says:

Lie Down and Die was created as a film production assignment during my third year of studies at Ryerson University.

I had recently read a great short story of the same title in McSweeneys by author Seth Fried and thought it would be a perfect fit for a short film. I loved the idea of using the main character’s overly exuberant imagination as a catalyst for his emotional acceptance at the end of the film.

Also, there were explosions, fires, severed limbs and underwater knitting. Who could argue with that?”
