Ahoy!
My name is Jordan Canning – I’m a filmmaker from St. John’s, Newfoundland and a 2008 NSI Drama Prize alum.
That’s not me in the photo above. It’s a still from my short film Seconds which is a finalist in the TIFF RBC Emerging Filmmaker Competition. The competition is part of Talent Lab, a four-day intensive program at TIFF offering artistic development opportunities to a select group of emerging Canadian and international filmmakers. Each filmmaker was given $500 to make a one to five minute film on the theme of ‘time.’
A $5,000 Fan Favourite Award is decided by online voting. And anyone who votes is entered into a draw for an an all-expenses paid trip for two to the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. It’s win-win!
Our short film Seconds is about the fleeting details of a man’s life that are remembered as he chokes to death on a piece of meat. We shot the film over a weekend in February with an amazing volunteer cast and crew and we’re all so excited that it’s made it to the top five!
Our filmmaking team would love you to check out Seconds – and the other four great films it’s up against. And we’d love your vote. Voting closes on June 29.
