NSI announces funding from Rogers & Women in Media Foundation (WIMF)

NSI announces new A&E Filmmakers Award & its first recipient

Dec. 19, 2008 | A&E Television Networks has contributed $10,000 to the National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) to establish the A&E Short Filmmakers Award which will recognize outstanding works in the NSI Online Short Film Festival. The juried award will provide one filmmaker with a cash prize of $2,500 and will be presented four times a year.

NSI Online Film Festival now accepting films: submit by Feb. 27, 2009

Dec. 15, 2008 | The National Screen Institute - Canada (NSI) is now accepting films for its NSI Online Short Film Festival. Submit films for free by Friday, February 27, 2009 on DVD only. NSI will present a $2,500 'Best of' award to one film next spring. The award will be made by an independent jury comprised of filmmakers and industry members.

Aboriginal feature filmmakers begin special training

Nov. 19, 2008 | Students selected for a new program which aims to get more Aboriginal audiovisual professionals into feature filmmaking begin training this week. Telefilm Canada’s Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program (FASP) brings together 21 filmmakers for four days of intensive work on their feature film projects. The training program is an initiative of Telefilm Canada in partnership with the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) for which the training component is being delivered by the National Screen Institute - Canada (NSI).
